Asia's Evolving Role in an Uncertain World

Asia’s role as a key driver of global growth and its rising influence on the financial ecosystem has been one of the most striking developments of the last generation. Today, Asia has 4 of the 10 largest stock market exchanges by market cap and the largest HNWI wealth by region globally. Over the next 10-15 years, Asia will account for about two thirds of the global middle class and over half of the world’s retail e-commerce market. However Asia is facing an increasingly uncertain global outlook for trade, interest rates, and rising political and social tensions, while some key Asian markets are transitioning to a lower growth equilibrium. At GIC Insights 2017, together with an esteemed panel of experts, we explored what the future holds for technology, business models and strategy both at the regional and global level.
